2017 Scholarship Applications due by end of day Friday March 3rd!

The Edmonds Arts Festival Foundation (EAFF) annually provides up to $20,000.00 in post secondary education visual arts scholarships to graduating high school seniors living within the boundaries of the Edmonds School District, Edmonds Community College students enrolled in the Visual Art curriculum, and any student who has previously been awarded the scholarship and wishes to renew.

THE AWARD – All scholarships are in the form of Certificates of Award, conditional upon acceptance of the student to a college-level art school, college art institute, college, or university for the following academic year. EAFF will send a check for the amount of the Award to the recipient’s school for credit to the student’s tuition account.

SELECTION PROCESS – The EAFF Scholarship Committee will select students based on a review of applications, individual interviews, and portfolio presentations. Scholarships are subjective and awarded at the sole discretion of the EAFF.

REQUIREMENTS – Completed application, including Letter of Scholastic Intent (see questions on application below)
– 2 Recommendations. One must be a Visual Arts instructor. Neither may be family members. You will need to provide this link (https://eaffoundation.wufoo.com/forms/recommendation-for-scholarship/)to the recommendation form to both of your people for them to submit.
– One piece of art must be available for exhibition during the Edmonds Arts Festival (piece held from May through Father’s Day Weekend).
– Scholarship recipients are required to volunteer a minimum of 1 shift at the annual Edmonds Arts Festival, held every Father’s Day weekend. Failure to complete the volunteer hours may impact your scholarship award.

NEW APPLICANTS Any resident, age 17 or older, who is a graduating high school senior or a graduate from any previous year, and has a permanent address within the boundaries of the Edmonds School District is eligible to apply. Applicant must be pursuing full time post-secondary education in a visual arts career at a college-level art school, college art institute, college, or university in the next academic year and must have graduated from high school by August 2017.

–ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: – Prepared portfolio with at least 7 pieces of art work featuring at least two media (photo, drawing, sculpture, design, painting, jewelry, etc…) to be presented at a mandatory interview in March 2017.
– One piece of art must be presentation ready for exhibit (e.g. properly framed and wired for hanging if 2D) at time of interview. Due to hanging requirements of the Edmonds Arts Festival, any piece not wired correctly cannot be exhibited and may impact your scholarship. Specific directions for preparing art will be provided upon application.

RENEWAL APPLICANTS Any student who has been awarded an EAFF Scholarship in any previous year and is planning to attend a college-level art school, college art institute, college, or university in the next academic year.

–ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: – Satisfactory progress toward a visual arts related degree (architecture, graphic design, interior design, art history, studio art, art education, art therapy, etc.). A list of degree requirements from your institution would be helpful.
– Prepared portfolio between 7 and 10 pieces of art work featuring at least two media (photo, drawing, sculpture, design, painting, jewelry, etc…) uploaded, as a zip file, with this application. Zipped portfolio file not to exceed 5MB. Please, indicate which piece will be available for exhibit at the annual Edmonds Arts Festival Father’s Day weekend. This piece must be delivered during the Scholarship Reception in May.
NOTE: Due to hanging requirements of the Edmonds Arts Festival, any piece not wired correctly cannot be exhibited and may impact your scholarship. Specific directions for preparing art will be provided upon application.

NEW APPLICANTS – EDMONDS COMMUNITY COLLEGE REQUIREMENTS Any student currently enrolled full-time at Edmonds Community College, compliant with the Visual Arts Department Associate of Technical Arts degree path, and planning to attend college during the next academic year may apply.

–ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: – Prepared portfolio between 7 and 10 pieces of art work featuring at least two media (photo, drawing, sculpture, design, painting, jewelry, etc…) turned into the Visual Arts Department office by application deadline.
– One piece of art must be presentation ready for exhibit (e.g. properly framed and wired for hanging if 2D) when portfolio is turned in to the Visual Arts Department office.
NOTE: Due to hanging requirements of the Edmonds Arts Festival, any piece not wired correctly cannot be exhibited and may impact your scholarship. Specific directions for preparing art will be provided upon application.

 

 

The Edmonds Arts Festival Foundation annually provide post-secondary education visual arts scholarships to outstanding students, age 17 or older, who currently have a permanent address within the boundaries of the Edmonds School District. Those students who reside within the boundaries of the school district but are educated through other programs than the public schools are also welcome to apply. The applicant must be pursuing full time post-secondary education in the visual arts at an accredited art school, college or university in the next academic school year, and must have graduated from high school by August of the the year of application.

All scholarships are in the form of certificates of award, conditional upon acceptance of the student to and accredited art school, college, or university. The scholarships are paid to the accredited university, college, or professional school the student will be attending. The Edmonds Arts Festival Foundation Scholarship Committee, using established evaluation criteria, will select students based on a review of applications, individual interviews and portfolio presentations.

Scholarships are awarded to graduating high school seniors with interest in the visual arts; students selected from the Edmonds Community College Art Department; and college level visual arts students renewing their scholarships. Students may re-apply each year that they remain in a visual arts curriculum.
Funding of these scholarships begins with the support of volunteers, patrons of the arts, and visitors to the annual Edmonds Arts Festival, now celebrating over 50 years.
